Cyprus is a truly blessed place when it comes to all things wild. Cyprus boasts an incredible diversity of species for such a small island nation. There is a population of small mammals, insects, reptiles, and birds. In addition to this there is a medley of various edible and non edible plants and wild flowers. Indeed, there is plenty to look out for.
The largest species on the island is probably the moufflon, a wild mountain goat, however (although the nightclubs of Ayia Napa would probably dispute this!) the smaller animals such as the fox and hedgehog make fascinating subjects.
The bird life here is spectacular, enhanced by the fact that twice a year Cyprus becomes a haven for birds migrating between Europe and Africa. Ongoing conservation work is crucial to the survival of these tireless travelers.
